Bridget began her musical journey at the age of 3 when her oldest sister began to give her lessons on the piano, inspiring her life-long love for the instrument. She began playing piano and organ for weekly church services starting at the age of 9. Bridget started taking clarinet lessons privately at the age of 10 and has since played it in many capacities including summer band camps, honor bands, Iowa’s High School Solo/Small Ensemble Festival, All-State Band auditions, jazz band, marching band, musical pit band, and first chair clarinet in her concert band. Over the summers at Wartburg Band Camp, she also learned to proficiently play the trumpet, trombone, euphonium/baritone, and tuba. She played many of these instruments in various bands throughout high school.
Although Bridget chose to pursue a degree in Event Management at Iowa State University, she continued her involvement with music in her free time. She auditioned for the marching band on baritone and was accepted her freshman year and became the baritone section leader to instruct music and marching her sophomore year. Bridget participated in a band service sorority, Tau Beta Sigma, that encouraged and supported the bands at Iowa State University. She also played the euphonium in the Symphonic Band and was the Principal Euphonium and Section Leader during her time there.
Bridget moved to Kansas City with her husband after college where they both began working at Cerner Corporation. She has been working as an Executive Assistant at Cerner since January 2017. Now as a working adult, Bridget continues to express her love of music by being an active member of Vocal Standard since September 2017. This is a local, competitive, Sweet Adelines International barbershop harmony singing group which she helped win their first Regional Championship in April 2018. When Bridget isn’t spending her free time on music, she enjoys reading books, hiking outdoors, spending time with her two cats, and traveling the world with her husband.
